The remaining wing of the original Oaklawn building has been removed. Drilling for the Geothermal wells will continue in that zone. With the exception of the second floor delivery hole, the building is completely enclosed with all exterior walls and glass in place. Flooring continues in the classrooms and Terrazo is finished on the second floor and in progress on the first floor. Drywall is complete and the DIRTT walls are being constructed between rooms. Ceiling tile and built in cabinets are also in progress. Basketball hoops and lights are in place in the gym. The media center ceiling is complete and ceiling work will commence in the cafeteria.

Construction Update February 25th 2013
Brickwork is now complete on the three sides of the academic wing. The scaffolding has been relocated so the brick work is visible. This also means that the sidewalk on Linwood is open again to the public. Miron crews and our own Mr. Schneider have been working to remove the snow and ice to clean up the sidewalk for safe travel. When the ice is cleared, the buses will go back to dropping off and picking up at the regular location. This will create more space for parents to pick up in front of the school. Check back next week for updates on the gym.
Concrete is lifted up to the second floor by a crane and bucket. Check out the OWLS News Update for 2/25/2013 on youtube to see the video of the concrete being delivered to workers.

Construction Update February 11th 2013
It is amazing what a construction company and subcontractors can accomplish in one week. Brick work is now over 10 feet high on the west and north side of the building and precast slabs are being put in place with the brick work. Electrical, HVAC and plumbing line the ceiling of the first floor. Offices, data, custodial closets and other smaller spaces are taking shape as door frames are built in place with block walls. The gym walls appear half complete with roofing material spanning across the top.

Construction Update January 28 2013
Construction crews are back up to speed after the cold weather snap. Brickwork is in progress on the west side of the academic wing. Concrete on the second level of the academic wing was poured on one side today. The steel beams above the media center continue to be placed. HVAC duct work, plumbing and electrical continue on the main level in the academic wing and office area. Preparations for the gym area continue. Media furniture and lockers will be determined this week and staff will be meeting with a vendor to discuss office and classroom furniture.

Most of the steel beams for the roof support are in place above the media center.
Brick work has begun on the west side of the academic wing.
A spray foam insulation was sprayed on the block and there is a visible gap of around 4 inches for the brickwork to float. Hooks cemented between the bricks latch onto eyelets cemented between the block to create space and allow movement.
